We are a non-profit organisation that aims to Creatively Combat Gender based Violence in South Africa.
We combine Art and Advocacy to raise awareness around the causes and prevalence of GBV. We are interested in creating real social change, and through our social media pages on Facebook and Instagram we push our advocacy initiative by creating awareness around gender based violence while simultaneously working at changing the narrative of violence and disempowerment.
We collaborate with Creatives, organisations and like minded individuals to raise funds, create awareness and ultimately build a society where every woman, man and child is free to live their lives in peace.
The co-founders and co-directors of The Embrace Project are Leanne Berger and Lee-Anne Germanos. Leanne Berger is an illustrator and designer. Lee-Anne Germanos is a non-practicing attorney and legal researcher into gender based violence. By combining their skill-set and passion they created The Embrace Project to ‘creatively combat’ gender based violence.
